FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Solar energy is energy derived from the sun. Solar panels (photovoltaic cells) convert sunlight directly into electricity. When sunlight hits the panels, it creates an electric current that is converted from DC to AC by an inverter, which then powers your home or feeds into the grid.
System size depends on your average monthly electricity consumption. As a rule of thumb, 1kW generates approximately 120-150 units per month. Check your electricity bill for average monthly units and divide by 120 to get the approximate kW size needed.
Solar system costs in India range from ₹40,000-60,000 per kW for residential systems. A 5kW system typically costs ₹2,00,000-3,00,000 before subsidy. With the 40% government subsidy, the effective cost comes down significantly. Commercial systems cost ₹35,000-50,000 per kW.
Savings depend on your electricity consumption, system size, and local tariffs. On average, a properly sized solar system can reduce your electricity bill by 80-90%. For example, a 5kW residential system can save ₹40,000-60,000 per year depending on your location and usage.
Net metering is a billing arrangement where your solar system is connected to the electricity grid. When your panels generate more power than you use, the excess goes to the grid and you receive credit. At night or during low generation, you draw from the grid. You only pay for the net difference.
Under PM-KUSUM and state-level schemes, residential consumers can get up to 40% subsidy on rooftop solar installations. The subsidy amount varies by state and system capacity. Tezas Solar assists with all subsidy documentation and application processes.
Yes, solar panels generate electricity on cloudy and rainy days, though at reduced capacity (typically 10-25% of peak output). Modern panels are designed to diffuse light effectively. Battery storage or grid backup ensures uninterrupted power during low-generation periods.
Batteries are optional. With net metering, you can export excess power to the grid and draw when needed, eliminating the need for batteries. However, batteries provide backup during power cuts. Hybrid systems offer both grid connectivity and battery backup.
The typical payback period for a solar system in India is 4-6 years for residential and 3-4 years for commercial installations. After the payback period, the electricity generated is essentially free for the remaining 20+ years of system life.
Solar panels typically last 25-30 years. Most manufacturers offer 25-year performance warranties with a guaranteed degradation rate of less than 0.5% per year. Even after 25 years, panels continue to generate at about 80-85% of their original capacity.
Solar panels require minimal maintenance. Basic cleaning with water every 2-4 weeks is sufficient. Professional inspection twice a year is recommended. Inverters may need servicing every 5-10 years. Most systems come with monitoring apps to track performance.
Yes, we partner with leading banks and NBFCs to offer easy EMI options for solar installations. You can avail solar loans at competitive interest rates with tenure up to 7 years. Many customers find that their EMI is less than their previous electricity bill.
Most roofs are suitable for solar installation. The ideal conditions are: unshaded south-facing roof (in India), minimum 200 sq ft area, and good structural condition. Both flat and sloped roofs can accommodate solar panels with appropriate mounting structures.
No, when installed by professionals, solar panels do not damage your roof. We use appropriate mounting structures and waterproofing techniques. In fact, solar panels can protect the roof area they cover from direct weather exposure, potentially extending roof life.
Our standard package includes: solar panels, inverter, mounting structure, DC/AC cables, earthing, lightning arrestor, generation meter, installation, net metering setup, and commissioning. AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) is available separately.
